America’s Got Talent: All-Stars premieres on NBC January 2, and fans have been talking about the show’s format. It sounds like it will be similar to the previous spin-off AGT: The Champions, which aired two seasons in 2019 and 2020.

What Is the Format of AGT: All-Stars?

According to an NBC press release announcing the 60 acts competing on AGT: All-Stars, the show will feature 10 acts per week for the first six weeks. Five of those acts will earn a Golden Buzzer, sending them straight to the Finals.

Because the show is prerecorded, fans at home won’t be able to vote for their favorite acts. Instead, a group of Superfans will vote for which acts they want to see move on. This is similar to the format for AGT: The Champions.

According to a fan on Reddit, each of the three judges (Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel) will hit the Golden Buzzer for an act, and host Terry Crews will also hit it. There will also be a group Golden Buzzer from all four of them.

There will be 11 acts total in the Finals — five Golden Buzzer acts and six acts chosen by the Superfans. After these acts perform, the Superfans will vote for which act they think should be named the winner, which will be announced in a two-hour finale.

How Many Weeks Will the Show Air?

According to the Reddit user who recently shared information about the new season, AGT: All-Stars will have eight total episodes. That fits with the official description for NBC, as there will be six episodes of preliminary performances, one episode of Finals performances, and a finale episode.

The user also teased that there were actually more than 60 “auditions” taped, but they were unsure if the extra performances will go unaired or appear in a montage. They also shared that one of the tapings “had a completely different background and format than the rest.”

The show will feature acts from Got Talent shows around the world, including past AGT winners such as Brandon Leake, Dustin Tavella, and Kodi Lee. Even repeat contestant Sethward will be performing on the spin-off.
