Former America’s Got Talent singer Dylan Zangwill received a Golden Ticket to Hollywood during the current season of American Idol. Although his audition didn’t air on TV, Dylan shared some details about how it went down with fans on Instagram.
AGT Alum Dylan Zangwill Competes on American Idol
This past Sunday night, American Idol finished airing auditions for Season 21. However, not all of the season’s auditions were actually shown. That includes Dylan Zangwill, who previously competed on AGT Season 16.
Dylan posted photos from his time on Idol, including two shots of him performing at the piano. He shared in the caption that he “amazed the judges with an original song” and earned a standing ovation from all three of them.
All three judges apparently voted “yes” to sending Dylan to Hollywood. He also shared that Katy Perry asked to see his ID, because she didn’t believe he was only 15 years old at the time of his audition. (He’s 16 now.) Luke Bryan also apparently called him a “total freakazoid.”
Dylan didn’t specify whether or not he’ll appear during Hollywood Week, which begins this Sunday. However, he finished his post by telling fans, “Stay tuned, I’ve got some fun things coming up!”

Dylan Competed on AGT Season 16
You might remember Dylan from his audition on America’s Got Talent Season 16, when he was just 14 years old. He played the keyboard and sang “Somebody to Love” by Queen, earning four “yes” votes from the judges to move on.
Dylan was eliminated during the judges’ deliberations. However, he was selected as one of five acts to compete for a wildcard spot in the Quarterfinals. Dylan performed “House of the Rising Sun” by the Animals while playing the Hammond organ.
Unfortunately, Dylan wasn’t chosen as the wildcard, and his journey on AGT came to an end. The singer has recently teased on Instagram that he’ll be announcing new shows and music soon.
