Last year, the judges on AGT: The Champions were introduced to Australia’s Got Talent winner Jack Vidgen. Jack was just 14 years old when he won the show in 2011.
Jack shared his story of falling out of the spotlight and returning to his passion for singing. His performance impressed the AGT judges, although he didn’t make it past the preliminaries on Champions. So where is he now?
Jack Vidgen Wins ‘Australia’s Got Talent’
In 2011, Jack Vidgen auditioned for Australia’s Got Talent at 14 years old. He said he wanted to be “Australia’s Justin Bieber.” The judges were surprised when he told them he would be singing “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston.
Jack showed off an incredible voice, and inspired the judges to give him a standing ovation. Brian McFadden even ran on stage to give Jack a kiss on the cheek at the end of his performance. Kyle Sandilands predicted that Jack would win the entire competition.

Dannii Minogue told Jack that his performance was “mindblowing,” and Brian called him a “superstar,” saying he felt like he should retire after watching that performance.

Jack went on to perform such songs as “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” from Dreamgirls and “Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele. In the final, Jack sang an original song called “Yes I Am.” He was named the winner of the season.
Jack Vidgen Performs On ‘AGT: The Champions’
Jack appeared on AGT: The Champions in 2020, and shared what it was like when his voice changed after winning Australia’s Got Talent. He said he stopped singing and started working at his uncle’s deli instead of performing.
He eventually gained his confidence back.
“It feels so good when I sing now,” he said. When he appeared on The Voice in Australia. He joined Guy Sebastian’s team and made it to the semifinals. He also competed in Australia’s contest to decide who would represent the country in Eurovision.
On AGT: The Champions, Jack performed “You Say” by Lauren Daigle. The judges were impressed by the performance. Alesha Dixon said he seemed nervous at the beginning, but he “warmed into it.” Simon Cowell, meanwhile, said he was “too safe,” adding that he was “better than that.”
Unfortunately, Jack didn’t make it past the preliminaries. Jack was up for the Judges’ Choice, but there was some controversy as the judges voted Hans through instead. Since appearing on Champions, Jack, now 24, competed on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in Australia.
