Publish date: 2024-08-18

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.) on Friday said Rep. Michael Burgess will lead the Subcommittee on Health for the next two years.

The Texas Republican, who’s a member of the Republican Doctors Caucus, will be accompanied on the dais by Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.), the subcommittee’s new vice chair. Former Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) will lead the Subcommittee on Energy, while Rep. Tim Murphy (R-Pa.), a former psychologist, will continue to lead the Oversight Subcommittee, which has focused on Obamacare.

The Energy and Commerce Committee has jurisdiction over parts of the Affordable Care Act, and will be closely involved in GOP efforts to repeal and replace the 2010 law.
