Dancing with the Stars pro dancer Emma Slater has opened up about how she’s doing following her split from husband and fellow pro Sasha Farber. Both dancers have competed on the current season of the show.
Emma Slater Addresses Split from Sasha Farber
Rumors swirled earlier this year that Slater and Farber had split after four years of marriage. The news was confirmed in August of this year. Despite their break-up, both Slater and Farber joined the current season of DWTS.
When asked how she’s doing amid her split from Farber, Slater told Extra, “I think it’s been a challenging year for a lot of people… For me, I just kind of surround myself with a lot of friends and just try to uplift and do the best I can, and I really do think that that’s the same for almost everybody.”
The couple is still supportive of each other, as Slater posted a live Instagram video after Monday’s episode paying tribute to Farber and his celebrity partner, Selma Blair. The actress chose to exit the competition due to health concerns.
“You guys are the light in the ballroom and I can’t even tell you how proud I am of what you accomplished,” Slater wrote about the pair in her video’s caption.
Slater Calls It an ‘Honor’ to Know Selma Blair
Slater told Extra that it was “such an honor for us to get to know Selma” during Season 31. She called the actress “one of the brightest lights in the ballroom.” Slater praised her energy and knack for connecting with people.
“She’s just got time for everyone,” Slater said, “and so witnessing her strength struggling with MS… struggling with that to do one of the hardest dance competitions… It’s been an honor to watch, and I just commend her so much for pushing herself and not knowing what she was going to get out of it, but knowing that she wanted to do that. I just think it’s just so courageous and she was stunning and such an inspiration.”
Although Farber is now out of the competition, Slater is still competing with actor Trevor Donovan. The pair was in the bottom two last week for Disney+ Night, but they made it through this week’s episodes.
