Over the years, America’s Got Talent has successfully introduced spinoffs, capturing fans with the comeback of their favorite acts. Interestingly, the newest spin-off, AGT: Fantasy League, is bringing fantasy football elements to the show this time. Yet, how exactly does it differ from other AGT spin-offs? Let’s find out.

How is AGT: Fantasy League Different from The Champions and All-Stars

AGT: Fantasy League is an all-new format for the popular talent competition series. Essentially, it’s designed to feature fantasy sport logic. Unlike America’s Got Talent: The Champions and America’s Got Talent All-Stars where the judges’ role is simply, to accept, reject, and give comments, the panel for Fantasy League will also be competing against each other.

On the brand-new spin-off, the judges will create their lineup of 10 acts from the 40 acts joining the competition. The Draft Pool consists of past winners, finalists, trending acts, and fan-favorites from various AGT franchises.

Sporting a resemblance to NBC’s The Voice, the goal of each judge is to send as many of their acts to the Finals. Yet, like the usual Got Talent franchise, acts will be moved to the next rounds via public votes and Golden Buzzers. The last act standing will be hailed as the champion of AGT: Fantasy League.

It’s no secret that The Champions and All-Stars were practically similar, with the latter obviously drawing inspiration from the former. However, fans can now expect that Fantasy League is an upgraded and a more unique version of the previous spin-offs. Clearly, it offers a fresher and more challenging format, anticipated to take fans on a worthy ride.

It’s also worth noting that the mechanics for the Golden Buzzer has also been tweaked this time. On Fantasy League, a judge can use their Golden Buzzer to advance their own act and even to steal an act from another judge’s team. This is indeed a thrilling twist, making the show more exciting than the previous spin-offs.

The AGT: Fantasy League panel is composed of Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and returning judge Mel B. In addition, Terry Crews is back to host the America’s Got Talent iteration.

AGT: Fantasy League is a collective endeavor of Freemantle and Syco Entertainment. The show is executive produced by Cowell, Sam Donnelly and Jason Raff.

Fan will start off the new year with this latest edition. AGT: Fantasy League premieres on January 1 at 8 pm ET/PT on NBC. The show is also offered on multiple streaming services, including Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV and YouTube TV.
