You can be from anywhere and at any age to enter the competition to be considered as a co-writer on the first book. There will apparently be several stages, leading to five storytellers pitching their ideas to Simon, much like on his talent shows.
“I have absolutely loved working on Wishfits with Eric,” Simon said in a statement. “I’ve always believed there is so much undiscovered talent all over the world and in that spirit we are going to give someone the opportunity to work with us on the Wishfits books. My favourite children’s books are full of imagination, creativity, positive messaging and most of all, are fun! I’m really looking forward to this.”
You can enter the competition here. The deadline is November 23.
What Inspired The ‘Wishfits’ Book Series?
Earlier this year, Simon Cowell announced that he and his son Eric had a seven-book deal with Hachette Kids to publish the Wishfits series. Three years ago, Simon says he told a friend from a children’s hospice charity that he and his son liked to invent “funny animals” like the Cog and Dat.

“And how every evening the two of us would think of the most unlikely animal we would like to have as a pet,” Simon wrote on Instagram. “She loved this idea so much she encouraged me to turn this into a book series.”
Simon also announced that two children’s charities he works with, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices and Together For Short Lives, will benefit from the profits of the Wishfits series.
