Rebecca Strong, a 20-year-old singer from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, auditioned for CGT with a cover of “Stone Cold” by Demi Lovato that inspired judge Lilly Singh to hit the Golden Buzzer and send her straight into the next round. Rebecca also earned $25,000, courtesy of CIBC, for the honor.
She went on to sing “Drivers License” by Olivia Rodrigo in the next round. The judges decided to send her into the Finals, where she performed a powerhouse cover of “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele. Rebecca earned enough votes to be named the winner.
This is the first season CGT has given out a million-dollar prize, courtesy of Rogers. As the winner, Rebecca will also receive financial advice, courtesy of CIBC. As Rebecca said of her win, “Thank you, Rogers, and thank you to everyone who voted for me. Thank you to my family and friends and everyone back home.”
